BAAL-PERAZIM (HE BROKE THROUGH MY ENEMY LIKE A POWERFUL FLOOD)

While reading the Scriptures, Isaiah 28: 21 reveals something remarkable.

Isaiah 28:21 NLT
[21] The Lord will come as he did against the Philistines at Mount Perazim and against the Amorites at Gibeon. He will come to do a strange thing; he will come to do an unusual deed.

In quest to understand the meaning of that statement—what the Lord did to the Philistines at Mount Perazim and to the Amorites at Gibeon, I decided to search the scripture further.

In 2 Samuel 5, the Philistines gathered against David after learning that he had become king. David asked the Lord what to do, and God instructed him to fight, that he has given him victory. When the Philistines returned for a second attack, they came with renewed confidence because of their previous experience—much like the way devil remembers past battles and tries to repeat old strategies and patterns.

But all God needs is someone who sincerely seeks Him. This time, when David seek His face He told David not to attack directly. The key instruction appears in verse 24.

2 Samuel 5:24 NLT
[24] When you hear what sounds like marching in the treetops, move quickly. That will be the signal that the Lord has gone ahead of you to strike down the Philistine army.

Then I study further and found out that also in Joshua 10 , a conflict arose between the Amorites and the people of Gibeon, who had made a treaty with Joshua and called on him for help. The Lord threw the Amorites into confusion, and Israel defeated many of them at Gibeon.

In Joshua 10 :11 God sent hailstones from heaven, killing more enemies than the Israelites did with their swords. During that same battle, the sun stood still until the enemy had been defeated.
Something stood out in verse 14; the bible recorded "surely the Lord fought for Israel that day"

From These stories, it becomes clear that God is saying , I will come Myself and Fight.

Most times when we pray, we expect that God should act in a particular way or must follow a process or must use an army of men or certain men.The bible made it clear that beyond the physical, the lord have His own Armies.  Vrs 22 calls him " the Lord of the Heaven's Armies. The great man of war!

Other biblical accounts also show that the Lord is fully capable of defending His people himself. Let’s explore a few of these stories:

You may remember that the walls of Jericho collapsed after the Israelites marched around them. This victory was not achieved by human strength. The Lord’s army had already gone before them.

Joshua 5:13-14 NIV
[13] Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” [14] “Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?”
Note: The drawn sword represented readiness for battle or possibly a finished battle.
It's also important to know that the angel did not answer the question. He just told him" remove your slippers for where you are standing is a Holy ground. The next chapter was the story of how the wall fell. God fights himself.

God also fought for Judah against the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir.
2 Chronicles 20:15 NIV
[15] He said, “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and everyone living in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army, for the battle is not yours, but God's.

2 Chronicles 20:17 NIV
[17] You will not have to fight this battle. Take your positions, stand firm, and watch the Lord rescue you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out and face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.
2 Chronicles 20:22 NIV
[22] As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, and they were defeated.

2 Chronicles 20: 23-24 NIV
[23] The armies of Ammon and Moab turned against the people of Mount Seir and destroyed them. After they had finished killing the men of Seir, they turned on one another. [24] When the men of Judah reached the overlook in the wilderness and looked toward the enemy’s army, they saw only corpses lying on the ground. Not one enemy had escaped.

Acts 12:1 tells us that Herod began persecuting the church and had James, the brother of John, executed. When he saw that this pleased the Jewish leaders, he also arrested Peter. But the church prayed earnestly for him.

Acts 12:7 NIV
[7] Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared, and a light shone in the cell. The angel struck Peter on the side and woke him. “Quick! Get up!” he said, and the chains fell from Peter’s wrists.

What a God of wonders! God did not depend on Herod’s officials or on influential leaders. He intervened Himself. His deliverance was so astonishing that even those praying for Peter struggled to believe it had happened.

Acts 12:14-15NIV
[14] When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so joyful that she ran back without opening the door and announced, “Peter is standing at the door!” [15] “You are out of your mind,” they told her. When she insisted that it was true, they said, “Then it must be his angel.”

God is declaring that, just as He acted for David at Mount Perazim and for Joshua at Gibeon, He will rise against every altar of wickedness and every person or thing that stubbornly resist Him in your life. He will perform a breathtaking act and accomplish an extraordinary work—not according to human reasoning, but according to His righteous power and wonders.

Isaiah 28:16 NIV
[16] So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.

Place your confidence in the Lord your God, and you will remain strong.
Whatever God is addressing in your life through this message, trust Him. His promises never fail. Luke 1:37

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, we submit to Your authority and sovereignty. Our hope is in You, Lord, because You alone have the power to overcome our enemies. Teach us to trust You completely. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
